As you view the illustration about ask yourself, is evolution a theory and why don’t people believe the fact of evolution?
Let us clearly identify this question with the following quote I found on Ted Talk Conversation:
"Why don't people believe the fact of evolution?
Biological evolution, the principle that species change over time due to the combination of random mutations and natural selection is a well accepted scientific fact (about a clear a fact as any).
Why do so many people insist on denying it? Why do people feel such a need to protect an archaic world view that they deny science?"
With the above referenced quote, let us examine it; because I have some questions:
- Is evolution a fact? The better question: is evolution a theory?
- What fact of evolution are we talking about? Chemical evolution? Stellar evolution? Macro evolution? Micro evolution? Organic evolution? Cosmic evolution
- Why haven’t we seen biological evolution demonstrated in the thousands of years of genetic engineering?
- Is there really a “principle that species change”? Are we talking about adaptation or speciation?
- What forces create “random mutation”?
- What power does “natural selection” have to improve DNA?
- What are people denying in “denying it”? That animals adapt or that birds came from lizards?
- What “archaic world view” denies science? A view that contradicts know observational science that not just the rabbit came out of a hat but the hat just appeared out of nothing (ie the universe exploded out of nothing – big bang).
Now, I don’t know about you and why you do or do NOT believe in evolution; but I can tell you why I do NOT believe in evolution:
- I believe in the laws of science
- I believe in the laws of nature.
- I know what historical science is and believe in observational science.
- I believe in the laws of physics
- I believe the law of non-contradiction – that if a theory (any theory) contradicts another theory or law, they both cannot be correct. One is correct and one is wrong.
Why don’t people believe the fact of evolution? This author does not believe in evolution because it contradicts and is incompatible with many laws science.
