Law of Detour – All system upgrades, replacements, or maintenance must have a detour plan to maintain existing system traffic.
Regardless of upgrade or replacement of a heart valve, bridge, a dam or failed pavement section (pothole) maintaining system traffic is required.
My mentor in the MBA program has a bone on bone joint. The pain is extensive and his mobility is limited. He needs a joint replacement. In this example surgeons must have a detour plan for the blood and the nerve signals (pain).
My father had a heart valve replacement. The detour plan was not just keeping blood flowing through the body but keeping the heart from dying from lack of oxygen while the valve was being replaced.
The most difficult roadway project I designed was Welaunee Boulevard in Tallahassee, FL. What was so difficult was the detour plan. I had the responsibility to maintain traffic on the 2 lane and 6 lane roads while the 2 lane road was enlarged to a 4 lane road. Did I mention doing this while keeping Lowes and Publix at the corner of this intersection happy? Did I mention doing this while keeping the Florida Department of Transportation happy as they did not want any complaints from anyone.
Whether we are replacing, improving, or upgrading a sewer line, pedestrian bridge, electric line or human bone, the existing system (sewer, pedestrian, electric or blood must continue to flow. The detour plan must maintain the system flow or the system stops.
A part of the detour plan is temporary traffic transfer. We have all been stopped in traffic for a pothole repair as flagmen route traffic back and forth on the one remaining lane. We demand relief for crews to keep or get the traffic flowing. We have all (at least those who wonder how things work) wrapped a rubber band around our finger (but not long) to see it turn purple. The finger demands relief for you to get blood flowing.
Now for the application, how does this apply to Is Evolution A Theory?
As you know, evolution theory goes that fish turned into amphibians that turned into retiles, that turned into birds, that turned into mammals. What evolutionist don’t tell you is that a 2 chamber heart (fish) turned into a 3 chamber heart (reptile) that turned into a 4 chamber heart (human). While most people accept this biological transition, I want to know how this evolution engaged the Law of Detour.
More specifically:
- Structural change – How did the atrium get duplicated?
- Plumbing change – How did the veins and arteries disconnect old and connect new?
- Hydraulic change – How did the blood get transferred from one heart to the upgraded heart?
- Electric change – How did the brain and nervous system knows when to change over telling the new heart how to pump?
Reality is reality. There is no magic in reality or science. There has to be a logical and explainable explanation.
If some engineer told me that a fully loaded 2 lane bridge (with vehicles, electric lines, gas lines, sewer lines, communication cables, and water lines) changed over to a 3 lane bridge (with more utilities and loading) and then changed over to a 4 lane bridge without a detour plan, I would assume he or she was joking. Where is the punch line?
If he or she told me he knew it happened but not sure about the details, I would question his/her intellectual honesty; maybe capacity.
Reality shows that you and I will always experience gravity; thus the Law of Gravity. Folks, you and I will always experience a detour; thus the Law of Detour.
