609. Newton’s Third Law of Motion

NEWTON’S  THIRD  LAW  OF  MOTION – EQUAL AND OPPOSITE

Third law: The mutual forces of action and reaction between two bodies are equal, opposite and collinear. This means that whenever a first body exerts a force F on a second body, the second body exerts a force −F on the first body. F and −F are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. This law is sometimes referred to as the action-reaction law, with F called the “action” and −F the “reaction”. The action and the reaction are simultaneous.   Click here to read NASA’s explanation.  Click here to read definition of Newton’s 2nd Law: (from Wikipedia)

Theory of Evolution’s Claim:

Our vast universe exploded into existence.  Click here to read Wikipedia’s article on Accelerating Expansion of the Universe.

Law of Science’s Position:

According to Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion, acceleration requires a force to push the expansion past its present velocity (ie. to accelerate).

Discussion:

You have been in your car and let off of the gas pedal.  What happens is that you begin slowing down.  Why?  The engine, wheel friction, mechanical friction, and air friction are all slowing you down.  If you put the transmission in N (neutral) you slow down less by removing the engine influence as you coast.  Maybe a bicycle is a better example of coasting.

To accelerate, or to change your velocity, there has to be an input of energy.  For the car example, you have to press on the gas pedal.  For the bicycle example, you have to pedal.

In summary, some type of force or energy is required to accelerate.

Given:

It seems that both cannot be correct.  Scientist have not found any violation of this Newtons 2nd Law of Motion up until the Theory of Evolution was proposed.

Conflict:

There is obviously a conflict between what Astronomer’s say and Newton’s Second Law of Motion.

Conclusion:

I must be intellectually honest and choose the most reasonable explanation.  This means I choose the Laws of Nature and put the Theory of Evolution back into the “hypothesis” category.
