Have you ever pondered any of these 3 questions?
- How far can physics break down a molecule?
- What is the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERNL?
- Why is there something rather than nothing?
Well, Mr. Cliff put these 3 things together on You Tube and I thought you might find it interesting. He noted that the most pressing problem in physics is: “Why is there something rather than nothing?” Have you asked this question?
Gottfried Leibniz ask the same question, “Why is there something rather than nothing?” It is worth noting that Leibniz (1646-1716) is not some ordinary German philosopher. He developed differential and integral calculus independently of Isaac Newton.
Harry Cliff presented a TED talk entitled “Have we reached the end of physics?” in December of 2015. Mr. Cliff states in his TED talk presentation, “This contradiction is the most pressing problem in fundamental physics. Why is there something rather than nothing?”
This is an open metaphysical question and there is much discussion on it as you can find at Wikipedia. Some say this is a needless discussion as it is the classic Cosmological Argument that attempts to prove God exist.
But more that metaphysics, it is a scientific question entangling 1) the law of conservation (energy, matter, momentum) and 2) participial physics. At Is Evolution A Theory, we prefer to leave the arguments for or against the existence of God to philosophers. There are plenty of higher intellects on other websites doing that. We prefer to discuss Evolution in terms of the Laws of Nature.
In either metaphysics or physics, the scientific question remains, “Is Evolution A Theory?” Critically think about these questions:
How can something come out of “nothing“? Something coming out of nothing is illogical.
How could “nothing” create something like all of the energy in the universe? This violates the law of non-contradiction.
How does “nothing” have the power of creation? This violates the law of sufficient reason.
