I love the show “Outrageous Acts of Science“! While they do have different episodes, my favorite is “Fact or Fiction Countdown”. The reason is that I see a video of the act and then analyze its fact or fiction based on my Engineering knowledge of the Laws of Physics. Then I get to hear what other scientist say as they examine the video.
In a recent episode, they looked at viral videos on the internet. Just a few of these countdown videos were:
- A car towing and launching a guy in a flying suit.
- A elephant swallows a phone and the phone survives.
- Marcus, a SCUBA diver pours a cup of coffer and drinks it while underwater.
- A guy slides down a slip and slide to be launched and lands in a small pool. (Also seem on Myth Busters)
- A swimmer videos sharks swimming next to him in Sidney Bay.
What Outrageous Acts of Science (OAS) did was find all of the above viral videos fiction using scientific laws. The way OAS proved the fact or fiction is simply by showing the act shown in the video violated one Law of Science. Of course, the videoed act had a significant truth to it. But, if it violated one Law of Science, it was deemed fiction. Rightly so!
I wish they would ask the question, Is Evolution A Theory, which is the purpose of this website.
To determine if evolution is fiction; an outrageous act of science, one has to show that it violates one Law of Science. I have tested it against the Laws of Science. But don’t believe me. You test it against any of the Laws of Science that you know.
