Corollary Principles on Law of Information
Below are some corollary principles (or truth statements) derived from the Law of Information:
- Information is not a property of matter, information is non-material. (Information may be chiseled into a rock but it is not the rock.)
- Material entities cannot create non-material entities. (Rocks and water cannot create code, language, nor intent.)
- Information requires a medium for storage or transmission. (The code is placed somewhere to travel or be stored.)
- Information cannot originate in statistical processes or be created by statistical processes. (Chance cannot create an intended and purposed message.)
- Information requires a coding system produced by an intelligent sender. (The sender must send the message in a language the receive understands.)
- Coding systems are an intentional and agreed upon choice between sender and receiver. (An agreement between a sender and recipient must occur.)
- The definition of a set of symbols is a process that requires consciousness or intelligence. (Language or code is created and agreed upon by its users.)
- All given chains of information can be traced back to an intelligent source. (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) program is performing this function.)
- Attributing meaning to a set of symbols is an intellectual process requiring intelligence (Rocks and water do not have questions nor need feedback).
Evolution violates the LAW OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Definition of Law: (from Wikopedia)
The Laws of information systems are a collection of observations and generalizations characterizing the behavior of people, hardware, software, and procedures enclosed in a certain scope (an information system). Information systems is an amalgam of scientific and humanistic disciplines including computer science, management science and social sciences. It is therefore characterized by laws as well as a number of principles. These span the range of transaction processing, effective systems, user interfaces and system development.
