407. Day 7 – Evolution Rested

On the Seventh Day of Evolution, evolution rested and specie changes stopped.

Question:

Has evolution stalled or become still?

Do we see evolution today?

Given:

  • The Theory of Evolution
  • The Laws of Nature

Theory of Evolution Position:

According to Elizabeth Pennisi’s article entitled, “Humans are still evolving—and we can watch it happen.” at ScienceMag.org, “Many people think evolution requires thousands or millions of years, but biologists know it can happen fast.”  But if you read the entire article, it is only discussing adaptation in humans and how “...over centuries or decades, charting how since Roman times the British have evolved to be taller and fairer, and how just in the last generation the effect of a gene that favors cigarette smoking has dwindled in some groups.

ListVerse.com has an article entitled, “8 Examples of Evolution in Action” which I quote, “Evolution is one of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time.”  Going on in the same paragraph, “There is so much evidence in favor of evolution, that arguing against it is like denying that there is a moon in the sky. Yet people do still actively deny evolution occurs. Speciation, the formation of a new species from an ancestor species, takes a very long time yet there are evolutionary steps which can be observed. Here are eight examples, amongst many, of evolution in action.”

If you are interested in an even longer list of evolution examples, the article, “Examples of Evolution” has even more than 8, while many of them are the same.

Law of Science Position:

Consider the following Laws of Nature and my summary of their application:

  • Law of Biogenetics –  Animals and plants continue to be produced after their own kind even with all of the genetic manipulation humans have conducted in the last thousands of years.
  • Law of Uniformity – As for the Laws of Nature, what we see happening now, happened in the past and will happen in the future.  Laws of Nature do not change.

Discussion:

There are 2 issues to bring up:

  1. All of the examples of evolution in the above articles are actually examples of adaptation.  We know that animals adapt to their environment.  The DNA coding has a large range of characteristics that reveal themselves under environmental pressure or purposed cultivation techniques.
  2. How long have humans been performing genetic engineering?  It may have been since humans have been cultivating plants (12,00 to 23,000 years ago).  Check out the  Science Daily article from American Friends of Tel Aviv University, entitled, “First evidence of farming in Mideast 23,000 years ago – Evidence of earliest small-scale agricultural cultivation.”  This quote is from the article, “The new study offers evidence that early humans clearly functioned with a basic knowledge of agriculture and, perhaps more importantly, exhibited foresight and extensive agricultural planning far earlier than previously believed.

It seems that there are no examples of speciation (more complex species being produced by less complex species) by nature or natural selection.  Furthermore, it seems that there are no examples of speciation under the control of today’s genetic engineering or farmer cultivation (yesterday’s genetic engineering) since humans have been trying to improve or engineer their crop production for maximum profit.

All humans have been able to get out of genetic engineered dogs, horses, roses, grapes, etc. are more varieties.  Interestingly, genetic engineering backfired in 1845 when a North America potato fungus was brought into Ireland.  Ireland limited its crop production through “genetic engineering” to only the most profitable and it turned out the most susceptible.  Click here for a history lesson on The Great Famine.

Conflict:

Where along the process of Evolution’s entire undirected, random, by chance processes of natural selection and random mutations did this process stopped.

  • Single cells stopped evolving into Invertebrates
  • Invertebrates stopped evolving into Fish
  • Fish stopped evolving into Amphibians
  • Amphibians stopped evolving into Reptiles
  • Reptiles stopped evolving into Birds
  • Reptiles stopped evolving into Mammals
  • Land Mammals stopped evolving into Sea Mammals
  • Non-flying Mammals stopped evolving into Bats
  • Apes stopped evolving into Humans

This violates the Law of Uniformity.  If the evolution process is applicable to all life forms then they all should have evolved in some fashion.  We should not see any prehistoric animals as they should have evolved as their ancestors or taken a different track of evolution.

Conclusion:

Theories do not rest.  So, Is Evolution a Theory?   The theory of evolution cannot be a valid theory because it is incompatible with many Laws of Nature.   The Theory of Evolution must be discarded.
