Is Evolution A Theory – Faith vs Reason

I find myself in a universe that exists. My mind is looking for a reason. I find myself asking questions like: Why am I here? Who am I? What is my purpose? Have you asked any of these questions? (And you may be asking what does this have to do with Is Evolution A Theory?)

the great debate

Funny thing is, it seems that everyone ask similar questions. More funny is, it seems that everyone before me ask similar questions.

As I dealt with my questions years ago, I found that I could not get straight honest answers. How man and this universe came into existence seems to divide into the two areas of faith vs reason. Either you have faith that God created the universe and man, or you have reason that the universe created itself out of nothing or from singularity and that man evolved out of the universe’s evolution.

Out of these questions came Charles Darwin and his publication of Origin of Species in November 1859. This book seemed to solidify the foundation of evolutionary biology in a debate that had been going on further back then Aristotle (384-322 BC).

The foundation of evolution had another moment when Georges Lemaitre first proposed a comprehensive comic explanation called the Big Bang Theory in 1927. But it wasn’t until 1964 when investigator’s discovered the cosmic microwave background radiation that swept away the Steady State theory, leaving the Big Bang model as the current cosmology theory.

I will come back to this later. The point here is that evidence did not prove Steady State was wrong. Evidence revealed it did not fit reality.

So with all of this evidence, can we conclude that reason is on the side of evolution and faith is on the side of intelligent design or God’s creation? Absolutely not.

The debate over “is evolution a theory” is not about my truth or your truth. It is not about “who is to say?” This debate should use reasoning and argument with the facts we can agree upon. Not faith. Not belief. The best argument should win. This debate should be between our ideas or hypothesis.

The First Cause event, God created vs. self-created, is a historical event and cannot be proven. Being impossible to prove, First Cause must be examined with facts and reasoning. Only then can we come to a scientific conclusion.

If we are going to approach the First Cause of creation scientifically, we should be intellectually honest. Any reasoned conclusion must be based on what we know now; today. Any conclusion based on speculation is inappropriate.

So, what is the best, most reasonable, explanation of the beginning of our universe? What is the most logical First Cause of the universe?

The answer is simply revealed by the elimination of one of the two prevailing cosmological theories. Remember how scientist eliminated the Steady State theory as a possible explanation of the cosmos? Science does the same thing here; except different facts.

Science eliminates the possibility that the universe created itself.

Self-created universe violates the Law of Conservation of Energy – Energy cannot be created or destroyed.  Pretty simple, but realize there are more laws and theories used to eliminate self-created universe than just this one law. Explore IsEevolutionATheory.com to find more.

Steady State universe and self-created universe with its big bang and billions of years of evolution takes faith because they do not fit reality. The evidence of physics has eliminated these two theories because, again, they do not fit reality.

The faith and reason debate has changed.
