Have you painted a room and watched the paint dry?
Have you hung your bed sheets on a clothes line and watched the sheets dry?
Have you spilled a portion of a drink on your clothes while at social function and watched the spill dry?
If you are like me, of course you did not monitor the drying process; it just happened. What crazy soul would do that?
Well, setting aside the fact that according to Inside Science and their article entitled, Physicists Unspool What Happens When Fabrics Dry, there are scientist who are interested in absorption and drying. No, really!
“Watching paint dry” may be a term most people use to show how boring something can be, but the physics of what happens when anything changes from wet to dry is enough to grab scientists’ attention.
I found this article interesting in two ways:
First, Scientist are trying to identify and quantify a new law of nature (see laws of nature here); the “Law of Absorption”. They are measuring the means, methods, and energy it takes to evaporate liquids from fabric. One of the fibers they will be studying in the future is wood.
Second, few people have thought about evaporating water. We know that it happens; slower in cold climates and faster in hot climates. But what do we really know? Have we really examined it?
This reminds me of the theory of evolution. We have be told about it and it seems reasonable with all of the bones of animals so similar (biological evolution). We have be told about the big bang and an expanding universe, so it seems reasonable (cosmic evolution). But have you examined the fullness of the theory of evolution (read a complete explanation of the theory of evolution here)?
Have you asked probing questions about the theory of evolution? For example (also see I Have Questions here):
- How can life DNA appear from muddy water?
- How can matter create itself?
- How can energy create itself?
- How can information create itself?
If your are asking Is Evolution A Theory, then I have a website for you. Go to our Start Here page and begin examining the scientific evidence on why the theory of evolution is failed and should be rejected as a scientific theory.
Don’t just believe what people say. Inquire.
