A Jordanian couple has been trying to have a family for nearly 20-years. After four miscarriages and the early death of two of their children, doctor’s discovered a genetic mutation in the mother causing fertiltity problems. Using a controversial “three-parent baby” technique, their new-born son shows no signs of the disease.
First, let’s look at the technique. New Scientist reported: “The method approved in the UK is called pronuclear transfer and involves fertilising both the mother’s egg and a donor egg with the father’s sperm. Before the fertilised eggs start dividing into early-stage embryos, each nucleus is removed. The nucleus from the donor’s fertilised egg is discarded and replaced by that from the mother’s fertilised egg.” Read article here.
What is going on you ask: Gene Editing. Do you know that there is a genetic revolution at your front door? Well, there is.
Is this a problem? I don’t know as I am uninformed on its long term impact.
However, I do know engineering, editing and plan revision. The genetic editing that Dr. John Zhang and his team at the New Hope Fertility Center did was remarkable. Dr. Zhang used DNA from existing living cells.
Think of it like this. DNA is a set of very complex engineering plans with an enormous amount of information on how to build an animal; like plans on how to build your house.
Side note: Evolutionist claim that the plans (DNA) on how to build your house (life) came about in some undetermined way. It just happens. Science claims that information (DNA, software, or house plans) can only come from a knowledge source. Information cannot create itself nor does it just happen. Evolution vs. Science.
Back to the example. The “three-parent technique” simply removed a plan sheet that had an error in it and replaced it with another sheet that did not have an error. Next, out pops a house without an error.; or a baby, in this case, without a genetic defect.
Is Evolution A Theory wants your to know. Dr. Zhang used existing DNA. This team did not create life out of nothing or from primordial soup.
Therefore the Law of Information prevails over evolution theory in the battle between these two incompatible scientific concepts. Which concept are you going to believe? Both cannot be correct.
As for me, I am going with the Law of Information and Dr. Zhang who edited gene information.
