Monkeys, Deer and Evolution

What does wild monkeys and wandering deer have to do with Is Evolution A Theory?

An interesting article showed up in DNYUZ entitled “Brawling Monkeys. Wandering Deer. Blame Coronavirus.” The report:

The number of tourists from China, Thailand’s biggest source of tourists, fell 85 percent last month, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand. And it isn’t the only country where the steep reduction in visitors could be affecting some wildlife.

DDNTUZ reports another location wildlife is effected:

In Nara Park, a popular Japanese attraction, tourists line up year-round to feed and take selfies with the park’s large population of sika deer.”

The problem:

The fall in tourist numbers because of COVID-19 may have indeed brought about a shortage of food supply for them. Now, for better or worse, thousands of animals are being forced to fend for themselves.

In this “problem” we see two things that would deter evolution from happening.

Survival – animals are more interested in survival than modifying their biological system. And if they do not eat soon, they will not survive.

Conservation – animals are motivated to conserve their energies rather than modifying their biological system. If they do not conserve their energy, they need more food.

Think about why would any animal do anything other than attempt to eat?

For Example:

  • Why would a moth morph into a butterfly? Why would it go into a cocoon and not eat?
  • Why would an animal with a 3 chamber heart upgrade to a 4 chamber heart? What advantage does it obtain in the “survival of the fittest” chain?
  • Why would a cold blooded animal create and add a cooling system? What survival advantage does it obtain?

Is Evolution A Theory? Only if you are lounging around thinking of improvements. But that is not how the animal kingdom works.
