According to an article entitled, “Classification of Omicron (B.1.1.529): SARS-CoV-2 Variant of Concern“, another COVID variant has been discovered and confirmed by World Health Organization called Omicron.
“This variant has a large number of mutations, some of which are concerning. Preliminary evidence suggests an increased risk of reinfection with this variant, as compared to other VOCs. ” (Variant of Concern)
As the article stated below, the COVID-19 virus has mutated or made a “detrimental change” meaning, a dangerous or harmful change. But I have to ask has it mutated into a higher form of life or just adapted to the present conditions?
“Based on the evidence presented indicative of a detrimental change in COVID-19 epidemiology, the TAG-VE has advised WHO that this variant should be designated as a VOC, and the WHO has designated B.1.1.529 as a VOC, named Omicron.”
Is Evolution A Theory has to ask about the changed the COVID-19 virus. Is it evolving? Yes, but micro-evolution or macro-evolution? Since it has been adapting, mutating, or changing into different variants, we can say with certainty the virus is demonstrating micro-evolution. But because it has not mutated into a more complex creature, the virus is NOT macro-evolving.
Therefore, this virus is NOT demonstrating the theory of evolution. Nor could it since the DNA would need additional information to become a different life form and that would be a violation of the Law of Information.
